The Soon Coming Judgment Of God Upon America and How To Escape It                 214
Part IV
Babylon Has Led The Kings Of The
Earth Into Fornication
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and
the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her…
Revelation 18:3
In this section we will focus on how America has led the kings of the earth into
fornication. Although we will focus on this portion of Revelation 18:3, it will be helpful to also
understand the first half of the verse. The key words that need to be understood are “all”, “wine”,
“wrath” and “fornication”.
According to the Enhanced Strong's Lexicon, “all” comes from the Greek word “pas” and
can also mean each or any.
637
The word “wine” can be literal or it can be a metaphor for the fiery
wrath of God.
638
“Wrath” comes from the Greek word “thumos”, which can also be translated as
fierceness, indignation or anger; one of the secondary uses is: inflaming wine, which either
drives the drinker mad or kills him with its strength.
639
The “fornication” that is spoken of here
comes from the Greek word “porneuo”; this is idolatry or the worship of something other than
the true God of heaven.
640
Prophecy is God inspired and can only be understood through the guidance of the Holy
Spirit. With that understood, often God’s prophecies are like a riddle that needs to be solved.
Because we are trying to understand prophecies (riddles) that have been translated, the task can
be much more difficult. Below are three other translations of the text we are looking at. None of
these translations show us exactly what is going on in the prophetic picture of Revelation 18:3
but together they will give us additional insight and help us form a picture of what God is trying
to tell us:
For all the nations have drunk the wine of her passionate immorality. …
641
because of the wine of the wrath of her whoredom have all the nations
drunk …
642
for, as a result of the wine of the fury of her prostitution have all the
nations fallen. …
643
When we look at both the definitions from Strong’s and the different translations we can
get a better picture of what is going on. This is because many Greek and Hebrew words can be
translated many different ways. I believe it can be helpful in many instances to use a
combination of the different possibilities because English doesn’t always have words with the
same meaning as the original Greek or Hebrew. For this reason I will give a paraphrase that is
longer than the original verse.
